How the car payment is calculated
The amount financed starts with the vehicle price, estimated tax and itemized fees, then accounts for your down payment and positive or negative trade equity. At a nonzero APR, the monthly payment uses the standard fixed-rate amortization formula.
Example
A $35,000 vehicle with $5,000 down, a 7% tax assumption, $850 in fees and a 6.5% APR over 60 months produces an illustrative payment and amortization schedule above. Change any field to use your actual written offer.
Results are planning estimates, not a lender quote. A lender may calculate fees, daily interest, timing and eligibility differently.
