What belongs in an out-the-door price?
The out-the-door estimate combines the adjusted selling price, tax, dealer charges and government fees. Trade equity and cash down reduce the modeled amount to finance, but do not change the dealer’s itemized sale total.
Sales-tax treatment of trade-ins and rebates differs by state and sometimes locality. The calculator therefore asks you to supply a verified rate and explicitly choose whether a trade allowance reduces the taxable amount.
Compare written offers, not monthly-payment pitches
Ask each seller for an itemized buyer’s order. Enter every fee under the matching line and compare the out-the-door totals before financing.
